Dettifoss will definitely blow you away with its sheer size and power. It is the most powerful waterfall in Europe with a flow of up to 500 cubic meters per second and a drop of 45 metres down to the Jökulsárgljúfur canyon. This cataract waterfall is 100 metres wide and is situated on the Jökulsá river, which flows from Europe’s largest glacier Vatnajökull. The waterfall was featured in the opening scene of 2012 science-fiction film Prometheus, directed by Ridley Scott. Dettifoss is listed on World of Waterfalls’ list of top 10 waterfalls in the world.
